• Q-Tip Euphemisms

    I just bought a package of store brand Q-Tips.  On the back is this delightful bit of marketing:

    MANY USES:

    • BABY CARE
    • BEAUTY CARE
    • HEALTH CARE
    • ARTS AND CRAFTS

    Somehow “cleaning out your ears” didn’t make the cut.

      WOW! Who knew Q-Tips had so many uses? Although I urge caution on the “baby care”. Babies move suddenly and in unexpected ways. A nearby Q-Tip could poke out an eye or poke out another eye.

      Like the ancient Greeks, parents believe there are four elements:
      1- things that can poke your eye out (this is most things)
      2- things you’ll choke on
      3- things that can cut off a finger
      4- things that are poison
