How about an e-mail that begins “I am a Diplomat from the Caribbeans named Frank Chambers, mandated to deliver your inheritance to you in your country of residence.”?
Inheritance is usually a good-news, bad-news affair anyway — I win! and someone died. The good/bad ratio must be particularly high if a “Diplomat from the Caribbeans” is needed.
Anyway, what struck me about this message (which went into some detail about a mysterious benefactor) was its poor writing. Is it too much to ask that scam letters not insult our intelligence and sense of style?
Let’s take action! I propose a new organization: “WriteRight” to help scammers and at the same time help us. All I need is your donation to get started….
